How is Pentasa taken?
Follow the directions for taking Pentasa provided by your doctor. Swallow the capsule or tablet whole. Do not break, crush, or chew it before swallowing. You may notice what looks like small beads in your stool. These are just empty shells that are left after the medication has been absorbed into your body. However, if this continues, check with your doctor. If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at once.

Are there any effects of taking Pentasa with other medications?
Some medicines may interact with Pentasa. Inform your doctor of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Pentasa with sulfasalazine.

How should I store Pentasa?
Store Pentasa at room temperature in a tightly closed container, away from heat and light.
