What is Amoxicillin?
Amoxicillin is an antibiotic that is used to treat a wide variety of infections.
 
 
Are there any side effects associated with Amoxicillin?
Amoxicillin side effects may include agitation, anemia, anxiety, changes in behavior, colitis, confusion, convulsions, diarrhea, dizziness, hives, hyperactivity, insomnia, liver problems and jaundice, nausea, peeling skin, rash, tooth discoloration in children, and vomiting. If the side effects continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor.
 
How is Amoxicillin taken?
Follow the directions for taking Amoxicillin provided by your doctor. Amoxicillin can be taken with or without food. If you are using Amoxicillin suspension, shake it well before using. If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, and you take 2 doses a day, take the one you missed and the next dose 5 to 6 hours later. If you take 3 or more doses a day, take the one you missed and the next dose 2 to 4 hours later. Then go back to your regular schedule.
 
Are there any effects of taking Amoxicillin with other medications?
Some medicines may interact with Amoxicillin. Inform your doctor of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Amoxicillin with chloramphenicol, erythromycin, oral contraceptives, probenecid, or tetracycline.
 
How should I store Amoxicillin?
Store Amoxicillin at room temperature in a tightly closed container, away from heat and light.
